Valentine's Day Gift Picks

Valentine’s Day gift ideas and guides keep popping up on my news feed. They’re filed with pink saddle pads, red bell boots, scarves with horseshoes on them and other useless (to me) items. So I decided I’d put together my own list-not as a hint to my husband but as hopefully a helpful list of items for others! The equestrian in your life will at least get more use out of one of these ideas than, say, a dozen roses. And if “the equestrian in your life” is you, treat yo self to one of these-you won’t be sorry!

IF YOU’RE ON A BUDGET

One of my favorite gifts to give my equestrian friends is a personalized bridle tag. Some horses don’t like to wear them on their bridles but eventers always have a bazillion pieces of tack, so there’s usually a place for it (like on a breastcollar or halter). Plus, at $7.95 you can stick to your budget.

IF YOU’RE A PROCRASTINATOR

I swear 90 percent of my equestrian friends have worn out, dirty spur straps and never think to replace them. Two day shipping with Amazon Prime makes this your pick.

IF YOU WANT A SAFE CHOICE

I have two picks for you more conservative givers. First, consider giving lessons or training with your equestrian’s trainer. There is slim to no chance you’ll go wrong with that! Second pick is Roeckl gloves. They feel like butter on your hands and look stylish. If you’ve ever seen an equestrian’s hands or gloves, you know why this is a good idea. If you haven’t, just picture sandpaper or very holey cheese.

IF YOU WANT TO GO BIG

This is the only pink thing on my list, I promise! Plus there are a bunch of other colors to choose from. I love the pink though!

IF YOU KNOW THEIR CROSS-COUNTRY COLORS

Saddle pads are a great idea for anyone, but most equestrians are super picky about their colors. I LOVE this grey but this site and others have lots of color options, so do some snooping or ask some friends to see what color to choose!

My best friend is a dealer for these boots but I would buy these regardless because of their super coverage, chic look, and NO RUB factor! Plus, my favorite quality-THEY’RE MACHINE WASHABLE GUYS!! Literally any rider I know would completely go nuts for these in their custom colors.

Another customizable option is these adorable bonnets my student makes. They’re SUPER affordable, long lasting and look great. Check out her unicorn bonnets, they’re to die for!

A MUST FOR EVERY EVENTER

There’s a reason you’ll see these boots on almost every rider, groom, or trainer at events. They’re super cute, waterproof and warm. There’s the original Dublin River Boots, or a more affordable option here.

MY PICK FOR BREECHES

I recently gave up on anything but high-waist for breeches. Other fits aren’t nearly as fashionable and I always had to cinch my belt up super tight to keep them in place. Now that I’ve tried high-waist I won’t go back! I tried a bunch of different styles and brands and these are by far my favorite. They don’t ride up in uncomfortable places like some others and they look amazing. I’ve gotten a ton of compliments on them, and they’re so stylish I’ve even worn them with booties out to dinner or when I had to present my business to a room full of ladies.
